A visit to Vantage, Washington. This rock and fossil shop had an interesting display of life-like dinos that represent a few species that once roamed the arid Central Washington State area when it was also less cold. We found it and the next door Ginkgo Petrified Forest museum and petrified tree area accessed by following a trail in the nearby hills a very interesting way to spend an afternoon. It is a Washington State Park with a spectacular view of the Columbia River from the mid-1950's museum. We found the hike to the 20 or so exposed petrified trees a little hot but tolerable in late September last year. We came to the conclusion it was sell worth stumbling on this fairly obscure gem the CCC originally developed 70 years ago. Visitors welcome.
